What is a pilot study ?
A
- small scale trial rim of the actual study
- few participants so you can test procedure, questions and coding systems
- allows to find and resolve issues

What is the ceiling and floor effect ?
A
Ceiling - task is too easy
Floor - task is too hard

What is a single blind trial ?
A
- Participants wont know the aim of the research, the conditions and how many conditions there are
- helps control the cofounding effects of demand characteristics

What is a double blind trial ?
A
- neither participants or researcher is aware of the investigation and treatment
- a third party may administer the treatment instead
- this avoids demand characteristics and investigator effects

What are control groups ?
A
- compatible who don’t receive the test variable

- experience the variable being tested
