fever
deep dyspareunia
dysuria and menstrual irregularities may occur
vaginal or cervical discharge
cervical excitation

a pregnancy test should be done to exclude an ectopic pregnancy
high vaginal swab
these are often negative
screen for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea
