Q

Structure of matter

A

All matter is composed of atoms, each of which has a central nucleus and one or more electrons that travel in orbits around the nucleus, like satellites around the earth. The nucleus contains one or more positively charged particles called protons.

Q

Acceleration, Velocity, and force

A

The Second Law tells us that this type of force will change the velocity of an object by changing either its speed or its direction or both. Such changes in velocity are called acceleration. So, we can say that any unbalanced force acting on an object produces acceleration.

Velocity is the rate of change of displacement( change of distance in a particular direction with respect to time) , and acceleration is the rate of change of velocity per unit of time.

Q

Newton’s Laws of Physics

A

In the first law, an object will not change its motion unless a force acts on it. In the second law, the force on an object is equal to its mass times its acceleration. In the third law, when two objects interact, they apply forces to each other of equal magnitude and opposite direction.
