Phys PCT 2 Revision ( P1) Flashcards
what’s the formula to calculate speed
Speed (m/s) = Distance (m) / Time (s)
formula calculating Velocity
Velocity (specific direction )= Distance (m) / Time (s)
what’s acceleration
When an object speeds up, we say it is accelerating. When it is slowing down, we say it is decelerating. The faster the speed changes, the faster the acceleration.
What’s the formula calculating Acceleration
acceleration = Change in Velocity ( m/s^2) / Time Taken ( s)
Eg: A snowball rolls down a slope. It speeds up from 2 m/s to 14 m/s in 2 seconds. Calculate the acceleration of the snowball.
14-2 = 12
12/2 =6 m/s ^2
Formula for Mass and weight ?
weight (N) = mass (kg) × gravitational field strength (N/kg)
W = mg
Eg, When Neil Armstrong wore his spacesuit, his mass was 160 kg. What was his weight on Earth?
On Earth, g = 10 N/kg
W = mg
So: W = 160 × 10 = 1600 N
What’s the to calculate formula Density
Density - Density is the mass per unit volume.
density (kg/m 3 ) = Mass ( Kg) / Volume ( m^3)
