Photosythesis/ Cellular Respiration Flashcards
What are the 5 key players of PS/CR?
-Oxygen
-Carbon Dioxide
-Water
-Glucose
Energy: ATP, Sunlight
What is Photosynthesis?
Converting light energy into chemical energy
Location: Chloroplast/ Chlorophyll
Reactants: Carbon Dioxide, Water, and sunlight
Products: Oxygen, Glucose
Enzymes: also required
What is Photosynthesis equation?
carbon dioxide+Sunlight= in enzymes= Oxygen+ Glucose
What is Cellular Respiration?
Location: Mitochondria (powerhouse)
Reactants: Oxygen, Glucose
Products: Carbon Dioxide, Water, and ATP
Enzymes: also required
What is the equation for CR?
Glucose+Oxygen=Mitochondria=Carbon, Water, ATP
Were does Cellular Respiration occur?
In ALL living things
What is ATP
Energy= Adenine Triphosphate
ATP+P
Energy= Adenine Di-phosphate
Chemical bonds
Energy is stored, Energy released, bonds broken
Aerobic
CR With oxygen
Anaerobic
CR WITHOUT Oxygen
Pros and cons of Aerobic
Pros- CR makes 38 ATP molecules
-Multi-cellular organisms gave energy
Cons- Must have oxygen and glucose
-Takes longer
Pros and cons of Anaerobic
Pros- Organisms like mold and yeast thrive with no oxygen
- Only need glucose
Cons- Makes 2 ATP
- Lactic acid build-up
