Cells & their functions Flashcards
Cytoplasm
Fluid internal enviroment
Golgi bodies
Proteins for the body and gets them ready to ship to the cytoplasm (Apparatus/ Golgi Bodies)
Nucleus
Regulates ALL Cell activity, control center o headquarters of a cell, contains a Nucleolus which contains DNA
Chloroplasts
Site for photosynthesis, trap sunlight and converts into glucose (sugar) contains chlorophyll
Cell Membranes
Regulates what enters and leaves the cell
Mitochandria
Respiration which produces energy for cells in the form of ATP (in BOTH plants and animals)
Cell Wall
Give plant cells a ridged shape for support, not found in animal cells.
Vacuoles
Storage of wastes, water, and food
Smooth Endoplasmic reticulum
Transporting materials
Rough endoplasmic reticulum
Contains ribosomes
Ribosomes
Manufacture or synthesize proteins for the cell (make)
Lysosomes
Digest food, worn out organelles, and viruses/ bacteria
- called suicide sacks
- made by Golgi bodies
Centriole
Function in cell division in animal cells.
