Photosynthesis Flashcards
First stage light dependent stage
Photon hits photosystem 2 which releases 2 electrons
Regains electrons through photolysis of water
Second step in light dependent stage
Electrons travel down ETC which transports 2 H+ into thylakoid space
Electrons transferred to photosystem 1
Third step in light dependent stage
Photon hits photosystem 1 which transfers 2 electrons to NADP which becomes reduced
How is ATP produced
H+ gradient in thylakoid space pass through ATP synthase producing ATP as H+ go into stroma
Cyclic photophosphorylation
Photon hits Photosystem 1 which releases electrons back to ETC (which transports H+ into thylakoid space) before returning to Photosystem 1
First step in Light independent stage
6 RuBP with 6CO2 form 6 RuBisCO
Second stage of light independent stage
6 RuBisCO forms 12 GP
Third stage of light independent stage
12 GP + 12 ATP + 24H* (from reduced NADP) forms 12 TP and 12 NADP
Forth stage of light independent stage
10 TP + 5 ATP forms 6 RuBP
2 TP form amino acids, fatty acids and/or glycerol
