PhotoReceptors Flashcards
What is the cornea and where is it located?
The cornea is the transparent part of the sclera , it bends light rays into the eye.
Where is the sclera located and what does it do?
It is the white , tough external layer of the eye. It protects the eyegula .
What is the choroid ?
The choroid is the intermediate layer of the eyegula . The sides and back absorb scattered light and contains blood vessels that nourish the eyegula. The middle layer of the eyegula (choroid ) includes the iris, pupil and clitary muscles .
What is the function of the iris?
Regulates the amount of light that enters the eye.
What is the function of the pupil?
Is the opening for light to enter the inner eye .
What do the clitary muscles do ?
Change the shape of the lense in order to focus .
What is the retina?
Internal layer of the eyegula. It contains the rods and cones
What is the difference between the rods and cones of the eyegula?
The rods are photoreceptors that are sensitive to light intensity .
The cones are sensitive to different wave lengths of light.
What is fovea centralis?
It is what contains a lot of cones and provides acute vision
