Q

Where is the medulla oblongata ? And what is it’s function ?

A

The medulla oblongata sits at the base of the brainstem it connects the brain and the spinal cord.
the medulla oblongata controls automatic involuntary responses such as heart rate constriction or dilation of blood vessels to control blood pressure and the rate and depth of breathing swallowing and coughing

Q

Where are the pons located? and what do they do?

A

The pons is found above h and in front of the medulla oblongata in the brainstem the pons serve as a relay center between the neurons of the right and left haves of the cerebrum the cerebellum and the rest of the brain

Q

Where is the thalamus located and what is its function?

A

The thalamus at the base of the forebrain it consists of neurons that provide connections between various parts of the brain. these connections are mainly between the forebrain and hindebrain and between areas of the sensory system and cerebellum

Q

Where is the hypothalamus located and what does it do?

A

The hypothalamus is located underneath the thalamus it helps regulate the body’s internal environment as well as certain aspects of behavior the hypothalamus contains neurons that control blood pressure heart rate body temperature and basic drives such as hunger and thirst and emotions

Q

What is the cerebrum and what does it do?

A

The cerebrum is that squishy looking gray stuff on top of the brain is the largest part of the brain it is divided into right and left cerebral hemispheres which contain the centers for intellect memory consciousness and language and interprets and controls the response to sensory information

Q

What does the cerebral spinal fluid do

A

The cerebrospinal fluid transports hormones white blood cells and nutrients a cross the blood brain barrier for cells of the brain and spinal cord it also circulates between two layers of the meninges , the arachnoid and pia matter and therefore ask is a shock absorber to cushion the brain

Q

What is the corpus callosum?

A

The corpus callosum is the bundle of white matter that links the right and left halves the cerebrum. The corpus callosum sends messages from one cerebral hemisphere to the other telling each half of the brain what the other half is doing.
