Reagents: Step 1: Tin, conc. HCl / Step 2: NaOH
Conditions: heat under reflux
Change in functional group: aromatic nitro compounds –> aromatic amine
With bromine water (react as an aromatic compound)
Type of reaction: bromination, electrophilic substitution
Conditions: mix at room temperature
Change in functional group: phenylamine –> 2, 4, 6 - tribromophenylamine
Observation: orange —> colourless, white precipitate
With water (react as a primary amine)
