Phase III, Block V - Electrical Flashcards
What is Azimuth?
The angular position or bearing in a horizontal plane usually measure clockwise from true north.
What is Bearing?
Defined as angular position of an object with respect to a reference point or line.
What is Range?
Defined as the distance of an object from an observer.
What is Heading?
Defined as actual orientation of the aircraft’s longitudinal axis at any instance.
What is True Heading?
Direction measure by true north
What is Magnetic Heading?
Uses the direction of the earth’s magnetic field at that location as the reference.
What is Relative Heading?
Uses the current direction that an object is facing a 0-360 azimuth alignment.
What system aids the Inertial Navigation System?
GPS
What are the five modes of INS?
STBY- Inactive NORM- Normal Alignment STR HDG- Command Stored Heading Alignment NAV- Navigation ATT- Attitude
How long does it take for INS to align at Normal alignment
3.5 Minutes
What are the colors of the Position lights and their location.
Red - Left Wing Tip
Green - Right Wing Tip
Anti-Collision strobe lights provide coverage where?
Forward, aft, up, down, outboard
Where are the Approach lights located?
The Nose landing gear strut.
What are the Formation light comprised of?
Six green LED elements
What is the ESG, and Where is it located on the aircraft?
Engine Starter/Generator: It is mounted in the engine gearbox.
What is the 270 VDC Batteries primary use?
Supply 270 VDC to the IPP for initial startup.
What are the three positions of the 28 VDC Battery?
On, Off, Tow
What does the Permanent Magnetic Generator supply?
Supplies unregulated 28 VDC to the Converter Regulators (CR).
What do the Converter Regulators supply?
Supply regulated 28 VDC to the flight Control channels (A,B,C).
What does the Non-Linear Inverter provide?
5.4kA, three-phase 115 VAC, 400 Hz power to the aircraft. There is no system redundancy since the VAC is not flight essential.
What is VMC?
Vehicle Management Computer
What VMC powers on first and loads software to others?
VMC B
