  • Buccal- placed between the cheek and gum via spray, gel or tablet
  • Inhalation- mists sprays and masks
  • Intradermal- injected into dermal skin layer at 15 degree angle 25-27 gauge needle like tb skin test
  • subcutaneous injected in subq tissue 45-90 degree angle 22-25 gauge needle
  • intramuscular injected into the muscle at 90 degree angle 18-23 gauge angle
  • ztrack im injection skin is pulled to one side then let go after injection
  • Iv- injected in vein 18-22 gauge needle
  • Opthamalic- eye drops
  • Oral- taken by mouth
  • Otic- ear drops
  • Parentral- any injected med
  • Sublingual-under the tongue
  • topical placed on skin
  • Transdermal-placed on the skin via patch
  • urethral- into urethra and bladder via catheter
  • vaginal- cream or suppository
  • rectal- placed in anus via cream or suppository
