Benzodiazepine: midazolam, diazepam, temazopam
NSAID’s: aspirin, ibuprofen
Opioids: (narcotic analgesics), morphine, codeine, pethidine, fentanyl
Neurotransmitter examples (3)
Acetylcholine (ACH): responsible for parasympathetic divisions of the nervous system
Serotonin: mood and behaviour. Sexual activity. Affects BP
Dopamine: mood and motivation. Relevant to depression and schitzophrenia
Pharmokinetics
The movement of a drug ADME absorption, dispersion, metabolism, excretion.
How does the drug get to where its needed? How much of it is left b that time, how long will it last there?
Important when considering dose, route how often to take etc

What the drug does
- the effect of the drug
- the mechanism by which the drug achieves this
