From: non-stick cookware heated above critical temp of 530 degrees, oven liners, hair curling irons
Avocado Toxicity
Toxic agent: persin
Heart failure, respiratory compromise from myocardial damage
Lead Toxicity
Acute weakness, anorexia, regurgitation
Sources: paint, solder, toys, jewelry, glitter, lead shot, ornaments, foil
Zinc Toxicity
Depression, lameness, regurgitation, behavioral changes
Sources: paint primers on cages, nails, keychains, sequins, jewelry, metal zippers, pennies
Heavy metal toxicity diagnosis
Signs are non-specific
Do rads to look for metals
Blood tests to confirm but often doesn’t test for iron
Alcohol Toxicity
Avian liver particularly sensitive to alcohol
Caffeine Toxicity
Vomiting, hyperactivity, tremors, seizures
Sources: chocolate, soda, coffee, tea
Household chemicals that are toxic
Aerosol vapors
Bleach, ammonia
Perfumes
Rubbing alcohol
Paints
Fragrances from candles, hand lotions, air fresheners
