Define: Predestination
The theological concept that God has already chosen an individuals fate before birth or individual action
Define: Mestizos
The 3rd highest rank in the Spanish’s racial hierarchy (the casta system) that belonged to the people who were of both European (Spaniard) and Indigenous ancestries
Define: Salutary Neglect
The unofficial British policy where Parliamentary rules and law were loosely or not enforced on the American colonies and trade
Define: Price Revolution
The high rate of inflation in Europe and the decline in the value of money
Define: Mercantilism
The system in which the colony provides items (food stuff, raw materials, gold & silver, etc.) to the mother country for manufacturing all for it to be sent back to the colony as a manufactured good and at a higher cost.
Define: Columbian Exchange
The “feedback loop” of trade between the Old World (Europe) and the New World (the Americas). This included the exchange of crops, animals, and diseases between the two lands.
