Performance Flashcards
Method 2 net altitude is when a/c can maintain a climb gradient of ?
How high is a/c approx actual altitude?
1.1% climb gradient
The airplane is capable of approx maintaining 5000 feet higher than net altitude
Is compliance with method 1 or 2 mandatory?
It is for dispatch planning purposes only. However it should be noted that when method 2 analysis is required a deviation for the flight planned route my invalidate the drift down calculations
Method 1
If an engine failure occurs anywhere from V1 to destination the aircrafts net altitude will clear all obstructions 5sm either side of the intended route by 1000 feet until reaching the destination. The aircraft must also have a positive gradient at 1500 feet above destination airport. Under optimum condition we are 5000 feet above these minimums
Method 2
If an engine failure occurs the aircraft be able to divert to at least one suitable airport from normal cruise altitude and the aircrafts net drift down altitude will clear all obstructions 5sm either side of the route of flight by 2000 ft until reaching the diversion airport. Must have positive net gradient of 1500 ft above diversion airport. Under optimum conditions these conditions provide 7000ft over the most critical obstructions and 6500ft above destination airport.
Method 1. Engine failure below single engine surface ceiling
- Climb at en route climb speed with MCP
2.
