Perdita 5. Flashcards
Quote
“Your pardon sir; for this ill blush you thanks”
Overview
Camillo is going against his king to attempt to save Florizel and Perdita as he is aware it is the right thing to do. Florizel and Camillo both appreciate Perditas humble self and make her aware that they see through the class system as they see Perdita as an equal despite what others will say or do
Analysis
Perdita is a humble, gracious character. While she accepts that those she loves do not view her as a lower person due to her class. She has been brought up to believe in this class system and while she appreciates their kind words “she is i’rear our birth” she still believes that she is in a class system
Dramatic Method
Irony, characterisation.
Small technique the use of sir to show that Perdita continues to show humbleness while also respect for the hierarchy system
Theme
Love from those around her.
Appearance and reality. Even though she appears to be of a lower class the reality is she is not which is made evident through Shakespeares characterisation of her as a noble, caring, humble character
Context
Perdita means in Latin “she who has been lost” can relate to feeling lost within herself as her relationship goes beyond her belief system and is therefore, embarrassed when she is compared as she knows deep down that they arent equals. Or lost in the sense that she was abandoned.

This can link to the start of the play causing irony “this female bastard hence and that thou bear it to some report and desert place”. This quote can be linked to Perdita rejecting Bastard flowers. Contrast
