- Checks brakes on bed and /or wheelchair
- Positions equipment (hoist/slide sheet/ chair) appropriately
- Scan the environment to ensure no risks to independence are present eg wet floors, trip hazards, low lighting, low chair, working aid incorrect height/poorly maintained
- Has the correct number of, and availability of assistants.
