Who is the designer?
The designer is the person who designs and develops the product. They provide the inspiration and creative input to the team.
Who is the manufacturer
The manufacturer is responsible for producing the designed product. They can provide advice to the designer about whether the product can be manufactured and what processes are available to create the product.
What does The marketing team do
The marketing team develops the marketing strategies used to advertise and promote the product.
They use information from market researchers to find out how to appeal to their target market.
They also advise on product pricing and the most suitable methods of advertising and promotion.
Who are the consumers?
Consumers are the potential buyers of the product. Within the design team consumers can provide feedback and opinions about their needs, wants and preferences.
What does The retailer do?
The retailer sells the product to the consumer, in shops or online, and so can offer advice about price and product range. They are often the first members of the team to know whether a new product is selling or not.

- Low-skilled workers can lose their jobs.
- Unemployment can rise in the area.
- Workers can become de-skilled since they’re operating machines.
- Creates pollution which can harm health and wealth in an area.
- Mass production is very expensive to set up.
