Public bones (pubhc symphysis)
What forms the posterior pelvic cavity border?
Piriformis muscle

- The promontory and ala of Sacrum
- The right and left linea terminalis
(Arcuate line, pectineal line and pubic crest)
What does the roof of the pelvic cavity do?
- Marks the plane of the pelvic inlet
- Separates the true and false pelvis
Compare the male and female sacrum
Female sacrum is wider and shorter
Female sacral curvature is more prominent
Male sacral promontory is more ventral
Compare the male and female coccyx
Female coccyx is more movable
Female straighter, male curves more ventrally
Compare male and female greater sciatic notch
Female: wider but shallower
Male: narrow but deep

Female: wider, oval from side to side
