Pelvic Nerves Flashcards
Femoral nerve
Originates at L4-L6
Innervates quads and iliopsoas
Innervates medial thigh, medial crus, and dorsomedial tarso/metatarsal region via saphenous branch
Supplies part of hip and stifle joint
Obturator nerve
Originates L4-L6
Innervates adductors (page)
No skin innervation
Supplies part of hip and stifle joint
Sciatic nerve
Originates L6-S2
Innervates basically all muscles
Innervates all skin except that which is innervated by saphenous
Supplies part of hip joint and all distal joints
Tibial nerve
Caudal division of sciatic
Innervates flexors of stifle and extensors of tarsus and flexors of digit
Innervates caudolateral skin from stifle to hoof
Supplies stifle joints, plantar aspects of fetlock, pastern, and coffin joints and navicular bursa
Common peroneal
Supplies flexors of tarsus, extensors of digit
Supplies dorsolateral skin of crus and pes
Supplies tarsal joints, fetlock joint, dorsal portions of pastern and coffin joints
Innervation of hip joint
Femoral, obturator, cranial gluteal, sciatic
Innervation of stifle joint
Femoral, obturator, tibial
Innervation of tarsal joints
Deep peroneal
Innervation of fetlock joints
Medial and lateral dorsal plantar nerves, medial and lateral plantar nerves
Pastern and coffin joints
Dorsal portion= peroneal distribution
Plantar portion= tibial distribution
Navicular bursa
Medial and lateral plantar nerves
