Pectoral Region. Flashcards
Pectoralis Major (Origin)
1 Clavicle (clavicular portion) 2 Sternum and Upper Ribs ( Sternal-Costal Portion) (3) Tendon of the External Oblique muscle ( abddominal Portion)
Pectoralis Major ( insertion)
Greater Tubercle
Inter-Tubercular
Groove/ Humerus.
Pectoralis Major(Action)
(1) Adduction and medial rotation of humerus (against Resistance)
(2) Forces inspiration by elevating the rib cage when the humerus is fixed; Clavicular Portion: Lexus humerus @ shoulder joint
(3) Sternocostal Portion: Extends humerus @ shoulder joint (when humerus is in a flexed position.
Pectoralis Major ( nerve Supply)
(1) Medial Pectoral Nerve
And
(2) Lateral Pectoral Nerve.
Pectoralis Minor (origin)
Ribs 3-5
Pectoralis Minor (insertion)
Coracoid Process/ Scapula
Pectoralis Minor (action)
(1) Involved w/ protraction/ Abduction of the scapula
(2) Elevates ribcage and thus involved w/ forced inspiration.
Pectoralis Minor
( Nerve supply)
Medial Pectoral Nerve.
