PBA #1 - elbow Flashcards
DISTRACTION #1 (humeroulnar)
EFFECT: increase overall ROM, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: use caution with median nerve & brachial artery
DISTRACTION #2 (humeroulnar)
EFFECT: increase overall ROM, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: use caution with median nerve & brachial artery
MEDIAL GAP (humeroulnar)
EFFECT: increase elbow flexion & extension, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: do not lever joint by pulling forearm laterally
LATERAL GAP (humeroulnar)
EFFECT: increase elbow flexion & extension, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: do not mobilize in full extension, do not lever joint
MEDIAL GLIDE (humeroulnar)
EFFECT: increase flexion & extension, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: do not compress ulnar nerve, do not squeeze fingers
LATERAL GLIDE (humeroulnar)
EFFECT: increase flexion & extension, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: do not squeeze fingers as it may cause pain & mm guarding
AXIAL DISTRACTION (humeroradial)
EFFECT: increase overall ROM, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: do not pull on carpal bones
POSTERIOR GLIDE - radius on humerus (humeroradial)
EFFECT: increase extension, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: use soft hand approach to not cause pain
ANTERIOR GLIDE (humeroradial)
EFFECT: increase flexion, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: soft hand approach to not cause pain
ANTERIOR GLIDE - radius on ulna (proximal radioulnar)
EFFECT: increase supination, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: do not compress radial nerve
POSTERIOR GLIDE - radius on ulna (proximal radioulnar)
EFFECT: increase pronation, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: be mindful of median nerve & brachial artery
POSTERIOR GLIDE - radius on ulna (distal radioulnar)
EFFECT: increase supination of wrist & forearm, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: do not compress radial & ulnar arteries
ANTERIOR GLIDE - radius on ulna (distal radioulnar)
EFFECT: increase pronation of wrist & forearm
PRECAUTIONS:
