knowledge check: KNEE Flashcards
axial distraction of tibia on femur (tibiofemoral Joint)
EFFECT: increase overall ROM, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: hand placement should be proximal to ankle
anterior glide of tibia on femur (tibiofemoral Joint)
EFFECT: increase knee extension, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: CI’d for ACL injury or damage
posterior glide of tibia on femur (tibiofemoral Joint)
EFFECT: increase knee flexion, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: CI’d for PCL injury or damage
lateral glide of tibia (tibiofemoral Joint)
EFFECT: increase knee flexion & extension, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: do not allow femur to rotate medially
medial glide of tibia (tibiofemoral Joint)
EFFECT: increase knee flexion & extension, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: do not allow femur to rotate medially
inferior glide (patellofemoral joint)
EFFECT: increase knee flexion, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: do not compress patella or force knee into extension
superior glide (patellofemoral joint)
EFFECT: increase knee extension, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: do not compress patella or force knee into hyper extension
medial glide (patellofemoral joint)
EFFECT: increase medial tracking of knee, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: CI’d if previous dislocations, do not force knee into hyperextension, discontinue if painful
posterior glide of fibula (proximal tibiofibular joint)
EFFECT: increase posterior glide mobility, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: do not apply too much pressure to fibular head due to common peroneal nerve nearby
anterior glide of fibula (proximal tibiofibular joint)
EFFECT: increase anterior glide mobility, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: do not apply too much pressure to fibular head due to common peroneal nerve nearby
posterior glide of fibula (distal/inferior tibiofibular joint)
EFFECT: increase ankle dorsiflexion & plantar flexion, pain management
PRECAUTIONS: do not apply too much dorsiflexion, relax achilles tendon
