Patterns According to Channels Flashcards
Channel problems can arise from 4 factors
- invasion of exterior pathogenic factors
- overuse of a limb or body part, giving rise to qi stagnation
- Sports injuries
- internal organ disharmonies
Channel problems: ext pathogenic factors invasion
invade Luo first, then main, then settle in joints (bi syndrome)
Channel pathology mimics
joint pathology
Joints are where what gathers
qi and blood and where qi goes from interior to exterior
Where does qi go from interior to exterior
joints
When a pathogenic factor invades joints, what does it alter?
balance of yin and yang and upset the circulation of qi in the channel causing qi and blood to stagnate
Joints are affected by what deficiency?
qi and blood
Fever, aversion to cold, feeling of chest oppression, pain in clavicle, shoulder, and arms
Lung, main channel
yawning, frequent urination, shortness of breath
Empty Lung Connecting Channel
Hot palms
Full Lung Connecting Channel
Pain, contraction, sprain of muscles along course of channel, pain and contraction of muscles of chest and shoulder
Lung Muscle Channel
sore throat, toothache, epistaxis, runny nose, swollen and painful gums, swollen eyes, pain along course of channel
Large Intestine Main Channel
sensation of cold in teeth, feeling of tightness in diaphragm, loss of sense of smell
LI Empty Connecting Channel
toothache, deafness, tinnitus, sensation of heat in center of chest, breathless
LI Full Connecting Channel
Pain, stiffness or sprain of muscles along course of channel, inability to raise arm, inability to rotate neck, shoulder ache
LI Muscle Channel
pain in eyes, epistaxis, swelling of neck, facial paralysis, cold legs and feet, pain along course of channel
Stomach Main Channel
Flaccidity or atrophy of leg muscles, feeling of cold in upper teeth
ST Empty Connecting Channel
Epilepsy, manic behavior or depression, swollen and sore throat, sudden loss of voice, nosebleed
Full stomach channel
Palpitations, feeling of fullness of chest
(in ST category?)Great SP connecting Channel
Sprain of middle toe, contraction of the muscles of the lower leg and foot, stiffness of thigh muscles, swelling in groin, hernia, spasm of abdominal muscles, strained neck and cheek muscles, deviation of eyes and mouth. inability to close the eye due to muscle spasm, inability to open eyes due to flaccidity of the muscles
ST muscle channel
vaginal discharge, cold feeling along channel, weakness of leg muscles
spleen main channel
abdominal distention
Spleen empty connecting channel
