Bowed Tendons
A flexor tendon, usually SDFT, injury from being strained.
Radial Nerve Paralysis
Damage to the nerve passing over the humerus, supplying the extensor muscles.
Capped Hocks & Elbows
Large soft swellings of the subcutaneous bursa of these joints.
Osselets
Describes arthritic bone growth at the dorsal aspect of the fetlock joint.
Ringbone
Articular or non-articular bone growth at the dorsal aspect of the fetlock joint.
Carpitis
Inflammation leading to osteoarthritis of the knee.
Broken Bones
A bone has been fractured.
Bucked Shins
Cannon bone has bowed toward the dorsal aspect.
Curb
Swelling 4” (10cm) below the point of hock. Plantar ligament inflammation.
Stringhalt
The unintentional jerky, spastic lifting of the hind foot at the walk.
Thoroughpin
Distention of the deep flexor tendon sheath in the hock.
Splints
Bone growths on the cannon bone.
Stifled
Upward locking of the patella on the distal end of the femur.
Stifle Lameness
A result of damage to the stifle joint.
Bone Spavin
Bone growth in the lower hock joint. Osteoarthritis.
