Dropped Sole
The sole has dropped below the border of the hoof wall. Convex shape.
Corns
Damage to the area known as the seat of corn.
Founder
Destruction of the laminar junction, resulting in the separation of the hoof wall from the coffin bone.
Abscess
A cavity filled with pus and necrotic tissue.
Club Foot
The foot is abnormally upright.
Laminitis
Inflammation of the dermal laminae, leading to lamina separation.
Canker
Abnormal, accelerated growth, usually begins in the frog before moving to the rest of the foot.
P3 Fracture
The distal phalanx has been chipped or suffered a break.
Hoof Avulsion
Traumatic separation of the hoof capsule from the coffin bone.
Cracks
A split or fissure in the hoof wall.
Pedal Osteitis
Inflammation of the coffin bone.
Sole Bruises
Solear damage causing dark red or bluish discoloration.
Quittor
Necrotic or infected collateral cartilage.
Sidebone
The ossification of the collateral cartilages.
Thrush
An infestation of the foot by anaerobic bacteria.
