What is Freidrich’s ataxia?
Autosomal recessive condition of childhood - degeneration of dorsal root ganglion cells , loss of myelinated peripheral nerve fibres & degenration of dorsal columns
What cardiac features are associated with Friedrich’s ataxia?
T wave inversion
Ventricular hypertrophy
Why is L-dopa given with carbidopa?
Carbidopa doesn’t cross BB and stop conversion of L-dopa to dopamine in peripheral circulation reducing side effects (nausea, vomiting hypotension)
