One of the best parties I remember is Yalda. Iran is one of the oldest countries in the world. Usually, a country with centuries of history means many celebrations, ceremonies and customs every year.
Yalda night celebration is one of them. Iranians have been celebrating the longest night of the year for centuries and on December 21 every year they wait for the sun to rise again and celebrate the dawn of the first day of winter.
In most parts of Iran, extended family, relatives and friends gather together and stay up until dawn and enjoy the night.
In most of these gatherings, families and relatives visit their grandparents and spend the night with them. In this ceremony, all kinds of fruits, sweets and nuts are served along with tea and syrup.
The guests enjoy a delicious dinner and after that the elders entertain others with stories.
Decorating and lighting houses and yards with candles is also one of the attractive customs of Yalda night in Iran.And this celebration is very enjoyable for me.
