Parts Of The Eye Quick Flashcards
D
Conjunctiva
Lubricates the eye to prevent eyelids sticking together
Pupil
Hole to allow light to enter
Iris
Colluded muscle that controls pupil relfex
Cornea
Responsible for refraction of light
Lens
Clear and transparent to allow light to refract onto the retina
Suspensory ligaments
Slacken or become taught to adjust thr thickness of the lens
Ciliary muscles
Contract or relax to adjust the thickness of the lens
Fovea
Area of the eye most concentrated with rods or cones
What are rods for and what are cones for
Rods for light
Cones for spectrum of color
Retina
Light sensitive receptors are here
Choroid
Brings oxygen to the eye,
Prevents total internal reflection
Optic nerve
Contains bundles of sensory neurones to send electrical impulses to the brain
Aqeous humour
Maintains the pressure fo the eye
Virtuous humour
Keeps the eye wet and keeps the retina against the wall
Sclera
Muscle layer maintains shape of the eyeball
Blind spot
Point at which the optic nerve leaves the eye and there are no receptor cells
Slacken or become taught to adjust thr thickness of the lens
Suspensory ligaments
Responsible for the refractionof light in the eye
Cornea
(Could be lens aswell)
Carrie s oxygen to the eye and responsible for Toto al internal reflection
Choroid
Maintains the pressure of the eye
Aqueous humorist
Keeps the eye wet and keeps the retina against the walll
Virtuous humour
Lubricates the eye to prevent eyelids sticking togther
Conjunctiva
Muscular layer that maintains the shale of the eyeball
Sclera
