What is the cervical vertebrae
The cervical vertebrae has 7 bones and the first two are the axis and atlas and they form a pivot joint allowing the neck to move. This region also attaches muscles to the neck
What is the thoracic vertebrae
This region has 12 bones and all are bigger than the cervical region and it is attached to the ribs protecting the heart and lungs and also attaches muscles to the back
What is the lumbar region
The is the largest region of the moveable vertebrae and has 5 bones, this helps support the weight from the other vertebrae and attaches muscles to the lower back
What is the sacral vertebrae
The sacral vertebrae has 5 bones that are fused together and helps form the wall of the pelvis and supports weight of the vertebrae
