What is a Preposition?
- list the three (3) main types and give examples.
A
A preposition - shows the relationship between a noun/ pronoun and some other word in a sentence.
There are three (3) main types:
- Time/date (eg. at, on, by, before, from, in, since, during)
- Movement (eg. from, to, in, into, on, onto, out, through)
- Place/Position (eg. in, on, at, above, over, under, near)
other examples of prepositions… (eg. off, with)

What is a conjunction?
Give examples of what they do.
A
Conjuctions - join words or groups in a sentence. They can do two (2) things:
- Join words of the same class (nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, phrases)
(eg. and, but, or, nor, yet, both..and; either…or; neither…nor; not only; but also)
She plays tennis (and) soccer. He doesnt drink (or) smoke.
- Joins clauses of sentences.
(eg. as, as soon, before, since, until, when, because, although, unless, so, in order that..)
He started work (as soon as) he arrived. I married her (because) she is gorgeous.
