Q

Squid Guard;

What is an option if your opponent steps into you, squaring up?

A

Transition to X Guard, w/ squid leg knee going under opponent’s knee, foot anterior on the hip, other foot active against far leg. You are getting under your opponent’s hips and taking away his base by controlling his hips and accessing his structure by pushing/pulling his legs. Grip on the collar breaks posture by pulling the spine forward.

Q

Brabo from knee on belly

Set up

A

Knee on belly must be tight, limit space between foot and body (any opportunity to escape other than the underhook I give him)
You want him to separate his arm himself as he turns into you looking for the under hook.
Your arm goes under his tricep and you DONT muscle the separation, you walk your way towards his head
Hand goes under his head, thumb up, weight on the chokin shoulder

Q

Brabo from knee on belly

Finish

A

Drive around the head looking to maintain opponent’s broken posture (you took his structure by getting under his arm). Lock up ONLY after posture is broken (can keep posture broken with your knee on his head if needed).
Lock hand in armpit, continue walking around opponent’s head. If he drops to his hip, crunch into opponent the other way and come into mount to finish
