Eligibility requirements for the issue of an IR?
- current class 1 or 2 medical
- pilot licence with night privileges on appropriate cat of a/c
- flight time acceptable to director
- 5 ground courses (Law, Nav, Met, Navaids/instruments, Human Factors)
- exam credits for ground course
- flight training course (10hrs dual)
- flight test
Privileges of a IR?
Act as PIC or CoP of an appropriate a/c operated under IFR
3 requirements to exercise IR privileges?
- Pass flight exam to appropriate standard (SP, ME)
- logbook certified by FE competency on navaid used for approach
- class 1 or class 2 (with class 1 hearing standards)
IR currency
12 months
- IR flight exam, signed in logbook (If acting PIC in a non-centreline thrust a/c, must be done ME)
90 days
- 3hrs IF (1hr must be flight time) OR the above flight exam
- 3 published instrument approach procedures (1 must be on similar navaid, 1 may be in approved sim)
- similar navaid not required if carrying out an air op under 121,125, 135 IFR competency requirements
Does a IR on one Navaid allow you to use whatever aids you want?
No, you have to get endorsed for each navaid (flight test)
If you are rated in a SE a/c can you fly ME IFR?
No you have to demonstrate competency in a non CL thrust a/c including asymmetric, but MEIR allows you to operate SEIFR
