Part 125 Flashcards
What operations are covered by 125?
Air operations using an aeroplane that has;
- a passenger seating configuration of 10-30 seats OR
- a payload capacity of 3410kg or less and a MCTOW of greater than 5700kg OR
- a SE and is IFR carrying passengers
If the seat numbers or the payload capacity falls under 121 then the operation must be conducted under 121
When may SEIFR passenger operations be conducted?
the aeroplane used has a pax starting configuration of 14 seats or less, excluding any required crew member seat, and a payload capacity of 3410kg or less
What is considered a critical phase of flight
For flight crew members, all ops involving push back, taxi, take-off, approach and landing, and any other period where the aircraft is being operated below a height of 10,000ft AGL except when in cruise flight
For other crew members, all ground operations after leaving the apron area to join a main taxiway, until passing a height of 1,000ft AGL on climb and after the aircraft has descended below 5,000ft AGL on approach/ldg
What duties can be carried out by crew in critical phases
Only those required for the safe operation of the aircraft
PIC VFR experience requirements
- current CPL or ATPL with applicable type rating
- successfully completed comp requirements
- has at least 500 hours FT including;
100 hours XC FT
(100 hours ME FT if the operation is to be conducted in a ME aircraft
25 hours night FT if the operation is night)
PIC IFR experience requirements
- current CPL or ATPL with applicable type rating
- current instrument rating (75 hours actual or simulated instrument time of which 25 can be in approved sim)
- successfully completed competency requirements
- has at least 1200 hours FT including;
500 XC FT
(250 ME FT if the operation is to be conducted in a ME aircraft
50 hours night FT if the operation is night)
Pilot instructor experience requirements
must be qualified to act as PIC of the aeroplane type performing the air op
- holds a A, B, or D instructor rating
- 1500 hours FT including;
250 hours line-operating FT as PIC OR
100 hours FT as PIC for the aeroplane type
AND has completed a training course in the methods for assessing crew member competency in the technical and non technical aspects of aircraft operation, including HF and CRM
Flight examiner experience requirements
- holds current airline FE rating
- is qualified to act as PIC of the aeroplane type for the air op or has experience acceptable to the director
- 250 hours line-operating FT as the PIC of the aircraft type OR
- 100 hours FT as pilot instructor (this part or 121) OR
- other equivalent experience acceptable to the director to act as FE for the conduction of comp assessments
AND has completed a training course in the methods for assessing crew member competency in the technical and non technical aspects of aircraft operation, including HF and CRM
Minimum flight crew IFR
If operated under IFR must have 2 pilots unless;
- Aircraft has a seating config, excluding pilot sears, of 14 or less
- the AFM allows single pilot op
- autopilot is operable and capable of maintaining hdg/altitude
- headset that includes boom microphone and control column tx/rx at the PIC station
- PIC meets PIC IFR experience
- For a SEIFR pax op, the AP must be capable of remaining fully functional after an engine failure
What are the 4 types of training?
Introduction, transition, upgrade, recurrent
When is transition training required and what must be included?
Crew member changing from one type or variant to another OR
Change in the nature of an operation, or new equipment is introduced, which affects the operation of the type or variant
- use of all safety and emergency equip and procedures applicable to the type/variant
- new procedures or equip on the existing type/variant
- any required HF and CRM training brought about by the different aircraft, equip, or procedures
When is upgrade training required and what must be included?
Pilot changing from one crew member position to a more responsible position on the same type OR
FA upgrading to role of increased responsibility
- Use of safety and emergency equipment and procedures applicable to the new position on the aircraft which the upgrade is sought and must;
including HF and CRM training, with emphasis on the changes brought about by the different position AND
include training in supervisory skills
When is crew member recurrency required
6 months for air op under IFR
12 months for air op under VFR
Pilot line training
following introduction segment:
- for SE reciprocating, 5 hours, 5 t/o and ldg
- for SE turboprop, ME reciprocating, 10 hours, 10 t/o and ldg (at least 6 must be pilot flying)
- for ME turboprop, 20 hours, 10 t/o and ldg (at least 6 PF)
- turbojet/turbofan, 25 hours, 10 t/o and ldg (at least 6 PF)
For all aircraft - 4 operating cycles of which at least 2 must be as PF
following transition or upgrade segment:
- for SE reciprocating, 5 hours, 5 t/o and ldg
- for ME reciprocating turboprop,
