ENR 1.5 Flashcards
What height of close-in obstacles does the departure gradient take into account?
Anything above 200ft (60m). For obstacles less than 200ft there will be a cautionary note in dep instructions
When can you take off from a secondary or grass runway without a promulgated IFR take off minimum?
- By day
- Pilot maintains terrain clearance visually until established on promulgated dep procedure
- The ac maintains an adequate climb gradient to ensure obstacle clearance
What are the maximum holding IAS? cat A/B?
170kts - both A/B, both normal and turbulent conditions
(14000ft or below)
What are the max IAS during turns on a SID? cat A/B?
Cat A - 120kt
Cat B - 165kt
What is reduced t/o minima? when can it be used?
Ceiling 0ft, visibility 800m
The AIP allows reduced minima to be used on the RWY used
Runway must have RWY CL markings or lights
Pilot must confirm vis using RWY CL
Obstacles in the t/o path must be accounted for
ME propellor a/c must be equipped with an autocoarse/autofeather system
What is IFR t/o minima?
The minima published in the AIP (if published)
or
Ceiling 300ft, vis 1500m
What is Vat and what are the cat A/B speeds?
Vat - indicated airspeed at the threshold
A - <91
B - 91 or more but less than 121
What are the cat A/B speeds for initial approach?
A - 90-150 (110)
B - 120-180 (140)
*maximum speed fore reversal procedures
What are the cat A/B speeds for final approach?
A - 70-100
B - 85-130
What are the cat A/B max speeds for visual manoeuvring (circling)?
A - 100
B - 135
What are the cat A/B max speeds for missed approach?
A - 110
B - 150
What height must be reached before turning on departure?
400ft, or another minimum specified
When and how is remote QNH used?
if an accurate QNH is not avaulbe from an unattended AD, another aerodrome QNH may be used but MDA must be corrected;
5ft must be added to the MDA for every 1Nm in excess of 5Nm from the source of the QNH
How do you know if remote QNH is not allowed to be used?
The plate will state “use local QNH ONLY”, if in this case local QNH is unavailable the approach cannot be used
