What are the eligibility requirements for an ATPL?
Be atleast 21;
Hold CURRENT CPL for appropriate CATEGORY;
Hold CURRENT INSTRUMENT RATING;
Have MINIMUM FLIGHT TIME of 1500 HOURS;
Have VALID, WRITTEN EXAMINATION CREDIT for AIR LAW, FLIGHT NAVIGATION GENERAL, FLIGHT PLANNING, METEOROLOGY, INSTRUMENT and NAVIGATION AIDS, HUMAN FACTORS, ADVANCED AERODYNAMICS/SYSTEMS/PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE;
Successfully DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCY to approved EXAMINER in a FLIGHT TEST
What is assessed in a flight test?
KNOWLEDGE in GROUND examination SUBJECTS;
KNOWLEDGE of PRIVILEGES and LIMITATIONS of ATPL;
TECHNICAL and OPERATIONAL KNOWLEDGE to the aircraft TYPE;
OPERATION aircraft WITHIN PERFORMANCE CAPABILITIES and LIMITATIONS in accordance with FLIGHT MANUAL in NORMAL/ABNORMAL/EMERGENCY conditions with JUDGEMENT and COMMAND;
ATS PROCEDURES and PHRASEOLOGY;
CONTROL of aircraft that ALWAYS ensures a PROCEDURE or MANOEUVRE is NEVER in DOUBT;
If APPLICABLE COMPLY with SUBPART I
What are the conditions of a flight test for ATPL?
CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT under IFR in either:
MULTI ENGINE aircraft with MCTOW of 5700kg or MORE OR;
MULTI ENGINE aircraft ACCEPTABLE to DIRECTOR OR;
SYNTHETIC FLIGHT TRAINER that is APPROVED for ATPL FLIGHT TEST
What are the privileges of an ATPL?
Exercise following PRIVILEGES in SAME CATEGORY the ATPL was issued and for which the PILOT HOLDS an aircraft TYPE RATING:
ANY PRIVILEGE of PPL and CPL;
Act as PIC of aircraft that REQUIRES COPILOT and is ATO or OPERATION for HIRE or REWARD
What are the currency requirements of ATPL
Holds a CLASS 1 MEDICAL;
In the 90 DAYS immediately PRECEDING the FLIGHT:
PIC of an AIRCRAFT or APPROVED SYNTHETIC TRAINER NOT LESS THAN 3 TAKE OFFS and LANDINGS OR;
Satisfactorily DEMONSTRATED to authorised flight EXAMINER continued COMPETENCY in SAME aircraft TYPE OR;
Satisfactorily DEMONSTRATED to QUALIFIED flight INSTRUCTOR COMPETENCE in TAKE OFF and LANDING MANOEUVRES during DAY in SAME aircraft TYPE BUT;
ONE of the LANDINGS may be a MONITORED LANDING using the AUTOMATIC LANDING facility of AUTOPILOT
When is a BFR not required in terms of currency for an ATPL?
When a PILOT has FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR RATING, AG PILOT, or OCA
What are the competency requirements?
Each PIC to PASS a check of ROUTE and AERODROME PROFICIENCY within 12 MONTHS;
Each VFR PILOT to PASS COMPETENCY check covering NORMAL and EMERGENCY PROCEDURES within 12 MONTHS;
Each IFR PILOT to PASS COMPETENCY check covering NORMAL and EMERGENCY PROCEDURES within 6 MONTHS;
Each PILOT to complete WRITTEN OR ORAL TEST within 12 MONTHS on:
RULES;
Aircraft SYSTEMS, PERFORMANCE, OPERATING PROCEDURE;
NAVIGATION, ATC and METEOROLOGY
SPECIAL FLIGHT OPS
NEW EQUIPMENT, PROCEDURES and TECHNIQUES;
LOCATION and OPERATION of EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT
What can the total 1500 hours flight time be made up of?
What can they not be made up of?
ALL DUAL flight INSTRUCTION, SE or ME DAY/NIGHT;
ALL PIC SE or ME both DAY/NIGHT;
ALL COMMAND PRACTICE with ALL 6 aspects of 61.31;
50% of ALL COPILOT in aeroplanes that REQUIRE, by FLIGHT MANUAL, to be OPERATED with a COPILOT;
NOT use PIC under SUPERVISION;
NOT a PIC to SUPERVISE a pilot undergoing CONSOLIDATION of OPERATING experience;
NOT SECOND OFFICER or CRUISE RELIEF
Can you cross credit hours for the issue of a ATPL?
Where an applicant produces LOGBOOK EVIDENCE in OTHER THAN AEROPLANES, HALF the PIC time within 12 MONTHS up to following MAXIMUMS may be CREDITED towards 1500 TOTAL;
HELICOPTERS 60 HOURS;
GLIDERS and POWERED GLIDERS 25 HOURS;
COMBINATION 60 HOURS
What are the specific flight experience requirements for PIC?

250 HOURS in aeroplanes as PIC INCLUDING 100 HOURS CROSS-COUNTRY NAV of which 25 HOURS NIGHT;
B1) 250 HOURS in aeroplanes, 70 HOURS MINIMUM PIC and 50% of ANY COMMAND PRACTICE with ALL 6 aspects of 61.31 AND;
100 HOURS of PIC CROSS-COUNTRY NAV of which 25 HOURS NIGHT and REQUIRES:
200 HOURS CROSS-COUNTRY as COPILOT in aeroplane that REQUIRES, by FLIGHT MANUAL, to be operated with COPILOT would MEET 100 HOURS PIC CROSS-COUNTRY NAV and may FORM PART of 250 HOURS in B1;
50 HOURS of NIGHT CROSS-COUNTRY NAV time logged as COMMAND PRACTICE with ALL 6 aspects of 61.31 would MEET 25 HOURS PIC NIGHT CROSS-COUNTRY NAV and May FORM PART of 250 HOURS in B1
What are the specific flight experience requirements for night and instrument flight?
NIGHT: 100 HOURS as PIC SE and/or ME OR 100 HOURS as COPILOT in aeroplane that REQUIRES, by FLOGHT MANUAL to be operated with COPILOT;
INSTRUMENT: 75 HOURS TOTAL which may include APPROVED SIMULATORS, which includes AT LEAST 50 HOURS INSTRUMENT FLIGHT TIME in aeroplanes and aeroplane INSTRUMENT RATING
