Meningitis prophylaxis drugs =

what is relative risk?
the risk of something happening where you compare the odds for two groups against each other. E.g. ‘10% more likely to survive using a certain drug’
What is relative risk reduction?
comparison of outcomes of control group (using traditional meds) vs experimental group (using experimental drug)
What is absolute risk?
the odds of that thing happening over a stated time period (not a comparison of two groups).
What is absolute risk reduction?
how much that risk decreases when a certain intervention takes place
Contraindications to COCP/POP
smoker > 35 years, <6/52 postpartum, breastfeeding, hypertensive, current/past VTE, migrain with aura, CVD, breast cancer, liver cirrhosis.
Ectopic pregnancy history risk may also increase on these.
