medical or field science.
Forensic biologist
look at the genetics involved in a crime. They
look at blood types and DNA profiling to identify people at the scene
of a crime.
Forensic chemist
Will analyse any substances found at the crime
scene. They can determine what type of explosive may have been used
or what type of poisonous residue left behind or type of drug that has
been seized.
Forensic odontology
(forensic dentistry) study dental evidence
found at scenes and can identify unknown corpses.
Forensic pathologist
are licensed pathologists in charge of
examining bodies to determine cause of death wounds or injuries. It is
the forensic pathologist that carries out the post mortem.
Forensic anthropologist
specialises in identifying bodies that are
decomposed, burned or otherwise unrecognisable.
Forensic psychiatrist
medically trained doctors.
They evaluate a
person’s mental state at the time of an offence and during the trial.
Forensic psychologist
not medical doctors, they can provide
counselling and therapy. They can assist in child custody disputes, and child abuse and provide criminal profiles. They can also provide judges with advice on defendants’ and victims’ mental health.
