3 processes of memory
Encoding
Storage
Retrieval
Encoding
sensory information changed (encoded) so that we can make sense of it.
Storage
when our brain stores information
Retrieval
– refers to our ability to recover information from storage.
An eyewitness’ ability to retrieve memories from their long term
memory is influenced by wha factors
Retrieval failure theory

Retroactive theory
Proactive interference
Retrieval failure theory
where the witness lack or uses the wrong cue to retrieve the
memory.
Interference theory
the ability to remember can be disrupted by what we have previously learned or by future learning
Retroactive theory
when new information interferes with the ability to remember
old information.
