Call in :

Take on :

Bring in :
• If you bring in a few references to other authors it makes an essay more impressive.
فعالیت خاصى را شروع کردن، یا در یک وضعیت خاص قرار گرفتن
Go into ( sth ) :
- He was in first place as he went into the final.
- A new model of the car has just gone into production.
شروع شدن و آغاز ( معمولا اتفاقات نامطلوب )
Set in :
- This rain looks as if it has set in for the rest of the day.
- It was when I realised how many people I was speaking to that the panic set in.
- Further economic decline set in during the 1930s.
سود بردن از موقعيتى و پول به جيب زدن
Cash in on :
- Should the families of criminals be allowed to cash in on their crimes by selling stories to the papers?
- Anti-road protesters are hoping to cash in on growing public support.
- They accused her of trying to cash in on her daughter’s fame.
- The former football player cashed in on his popularity to open a very successful restaurant.

Fall on :
• my bithday will fall on friday this week
با شکست مواجه شدن، به جایی نرسیدن، بهم خوردن
Fall through :
- The company had agreed to finance the project, but the deal is now in danger of falling through.
- Our plans to go on holiday together fell through when John became ill.
صرف و هزينه انجام كارى شدن
Go into ( sth ) :
- Over $50 million has gone into designing the new aircraft.
- Clearly, a lot of effort has gone into producing this book.
كسى را براى شام بيرون دعوت كردن ( براى شروع رابطه عاشقانه )
Ask ( sb ) out :
- There’s some girl in the office he fancies but he’s too scared to ask her out.
- (sometimes + for) She phoned him to ask him out for a drink.

Buy up :
- Most of the land in the area has been bought up by property developers.
- In Hawaii, Japanese investors have bought up nearly half of the resort hotels.

Bail out :
• His wife refused to bail him out.
حزب یا دسته ای را برای پیوستن به حزب مخالف ترک کردن - پناهنده شدن
Go over to :
- Some key party members have already gone over to the opposition.
- during the war he went over to the enemy side .

Take on ( sth ) :
• The plane has two scheduled stops to take on passengers and fuel.
باد چيزى خالى شدن ، پنچر شدن
Go down :
• That back tyre’s gone down again - it must have a puncture.
زمين گذاشتن چيزى يا كسى
Put down :
- I’ll just put my bag down - it’s rather heavy.
- ‘Put me down, daddy!
- Put that knife down - you’re making me nervous.
فروختن (خانه، شرکت و…) بهخاطر مهاجرت یا بازنشستگی
Sell up :
- He decided to sell up and retire to the south of France.
- She left the country after selling up most of her assets.
سقوط كردن يا فرود آمدن هواپيما
Come down :
• The plane came down over the Atlantic, killing all hundred and eighty passengers.
عقبعقب رفتن (اتومبیل و…) دندهعقب رفتن
Back up :
• Back up a little more so there’s room for another car in front.
به تندى انتقاد كردن
Hit out at :
- The bishop hit out at the government’s policy on the homeless.
- The Medical Association yesterday hit out at government cuts in healthcare services.
اخبار و شايعات ( پخش شدن )
Get around :
- I don’t want it to get around that I’m leaving.
- News got around that Jeanette and Dave were having an affair.
چيزى را كامل فهميدن و دقيق شرح دادن
Pin down :
- (often + question word) Without proper research, it’s hard to pin down what the long-term effects of this drug are.
- ( often negative) David is certainly very charming, but I can’t pin down the exact nature of his charm.
- There’s obviously a gas leak but we can’t pin down exactly where it’s coming from.
چیزی را در جایی قرار دادن که مردم متوجه آن شوند تا در صورت تمایل بتوانند از آن استفاده کنند
Put out :
- Did you put clean towels out for the guests?
- I thought I’d put out some food for people to have with their drinks.

Turn ( sb/sth ) over :
- (usually + to) A convicted terrorist was eventually turned over to the police, twelve hours after he had taken refuge in the Swiss Embassy.
- (usually + to) All documents are to be turned over to the court.
- He had intended to turn the business over to his son when he retired.

Get by on :

Take on ( sth ) :
- She’s just taken on too much work.
- When I took this job on I didn’t expect it to take all this time.
- I can’t take on his problems as well as my own.

Bail out :
- She keeps running up huge debts and then asking her friends to bail her out.
- The government can’t bail out every unprofitable state enterprise.

Get down :

Back up :
