the details of Bill are discussed by standing committee made of MPs from different parties
report stage
the houses consider amendments made at committee stage
third Reading
the bill as a whole is debated
House of Lords
the bill passes through same stages, it can be accepted or rejected or amended, this goes back and forth between the two houses until verdict is made
royal assent
the bill becomes an act of Parliament
