Paper 3 Terms: Credibility Flashcards
1
Q
Internal Validity
A
The procedural quality of the experiment; it is high when confounding variables are controlled, and researchers are sure the independent variable caused a change in the dependent variable. Internal validity is linked directly to bias—the less bias, the higher the internal validity.
2
Q
Controlling Confounding Variable
A
- Contributes to bias.
- They need to be controlled by eliminating them or keeping them constant in all groups of participants.
3
Q
Triangulation
A
Combines different approaches to collecting and interpreting data and checking with other sources.
4
Q
Method Triangulation
A
Using various methods to see if the same results are obtained.
5
Q
Researcher Triangulation
A
Combining the observations/interpretations of different researchers; if multiple people see the same thing, credibility increases.
