Expectations that members of society expect from eachother e.g. Wearing clothes
Values (e.g.)
Beliefs or ideas shared by the members of a culture e.g. Asian families would value family

Consists of the beliefs , behaviours and objects/ characteristics common to the members of a particular group ( e.g. Food music )
Identity
Sense of self and our perception of ourselves as being different from others - some define by race some religion
High culture (e.g.)
Refers to set of cultural products held in highest esteem by a culture e.g. Literature
Popular culture (e.g.)
Refers to cultural products that do it aspire to higher intellectual esteem and enjoyed by majority of people ( tv and pop music )
Global culture
Cultures of society can no longer exist in isolation to rest of the world and is influenced + shaped by globalisation ( food and music )
Consumer culture
Expressing identity by the consumption of designer goods
Subculture
Values and Norms district from those of majority held by a group within society ;( hippies )
Cultural diversity
Cultural differences that exist in society despite consensus of values and norms ( ethnic minorities established in distinct communities - china town London )
Cultural hybridity
Members of society mixing and matching elements of different cultures that exist in U.K. To construct sense of identity ( black wannabes)
Primary socialisation
Process of learning norms and values at home e.g. Family and gender socialisation
Secondary socialisation
Process of learning norms and values outside of the house as we grow up
Agents of secondary socialisation

Formal social control
Using laws and written rules to ensure members of society conform to the norms learnt by socialisation ( police )
