Examine life of wealthy celebs and focus on consumer items such as cars
Study ; rarely portray the causes and consequences of poverty
Peer group and class indentity
Upper class : old boy network
Working class : form anti school subcultures and reject learning , see education as useless
Membership helps to deal with boredom
Marxist view of class
Conflict between two classes ( bourgeoise who own everything and proletariats who own nothing ) - exploited by working class
Functionalist view of class
Stratification is functional - promotes hard work
Encourages people to work harder
Meritocracy - ruling class there bcuz of their hard work
