In report writing, what does the abstract contain ?
How many words are in it usually ?
A summary of the study, including aims, hypothesis, methods, results and conclusions. its 150-200words long.
In report writing what does the introduction contain ?
Outlines what a researcher intends to investigate. Begins with a review of previous research providing a background to the study. This focuses on leading logically to the aims, so the reader is convinced of reasoning for the study.
In report writing what does the method contain ?
- Design: the particular variation of the method, e.g. repeated measures, covert observation.
- Sample: information about the participants.
- Materials apparatus: the equipment used during the study.
- Procedure; Gives step by step account of what the researcher did. Must be detailed so that the study can be replicated. Significant ethical issues are mentioned and explains how they’re dealt with.
In report writing what does the results contain ?
What the researcher found out, including descriptive statistics and inferential statistic.
In report writing what does the discussion contain ?
- Summary of results
- consideration of the relationship to previous research
- comments on any issues with method and suggestions of how to deal with them.
- implications/applications of the real world.
- suggestions for future research.
In report writing what does the appendices contain ?
examples of materials, raw data, calculations.
