Q

Differentiation

A
  1. Between LU or KI
  2. If LU, whether external or internal
(external evil=LU, cough/phlegm= LU; internal + KI sxs low back pain, ringing in ears= KI, fluids go out to limbs/or clear copious urine= KI)
  3. If KI, all vacuity patterns, Q= whether yin or yang vac.

water-cold= vacuity w/in repletion
phlegm rheum=vacuity w/in repletion

Q

Heat Evil congesting LU

A
Panting + cough together
rapid breathing
nasal flaring
loud voice
spitting of thick yellow, smelly phlegm or blood streaked phlegm
pain of chest and rib side
often: + fever, Hx of external invasion
T: Yellow fur

Q

Phlegm Turbidity Obstructing LU

A

Panting + cough together
severe= chest + rib side pain
inability to lie down
profuse, sticky slimy white phlegm hard to cough up
Must be + fullness/oppression in chest, heaviness/fatigue of limbs,
T: white, slimy fur
P: slippery

can be vomiting or constipation or
also SP Qi def: torbidmintake, abd distention, sloppy stools, white complexion, spirit fatigue, lack of strength

A

Signs of water rheum suspended rib-side and invading LUs
hasty panting
maybe cough, SOB, Distention, fullness ribside
may/not severe pain

Q

Propping Rheum

A
Panting and cough
SOB
inability to inhale when lying down
profuse, frothy white phlegm
often + floating edema of face
T: white, slimy fur
P: string like and tight

may linger several years-tendency to catch external w-c easily

severe= cold and fever, panting fullness/spitting cough, pain in back, soreness of low back, treembling/stirring of body

Q

Water-cold invading (spillage rheum)

A

Panting and scanty qi
maybe cough/SOB
either profuse, thin, white phlegm or frothy drool
panting cough occurs after severe swelling and signs of SP and KI yang def: white or dusky complexion, fear of cold, cold limbs, withered spirit, HT palps, scanty urine, low m, reduced appetite, sloppy stools

Q

LU Qi Vacuity (XU)

A

enduring panting + maybe cough
panting and coughing is low and forceless
thin white phlegm
must be + low LU Fx: low voice, laziness in speaking, ability to contract external evils easily,
Maybe signs of qi vacuity : white complexion, dizziness, spirit fatigue and lack of strength, spontaneous sweating worse w/ movement
T: Pale w/ white fur
P: vacuous

Q

LU Yin vacuity (XU)

A

hasty panting, SOB and Dry cough
Often w/ LU dryness: hoarse voice, dry mouth and throat
May be signs of depletion of yin fluids: malar flush, emaciation, 5-palm heat, tidal fever, night sweats,
T: red w/ little/no fur
P: thin/rapid

Q

KI Yang vacuity (XU)

A

Enduring panting,
exhalation greater than inhalation
inability to absorb qi thats worse w/ exertion
must be + vacuity of KI: sore/cold low back and knees, clear, long, frequent urination, ringing in ears or deafness
P: deep, thin, forceless

Yang vacuity: fear of cold, cold limbs, pale or dark complexion, withered spirit essence

17
Q

KI Yin Vacuity

A

Enduring panting, exhalation greater than inhalation
inability to absorb qi
must be + KI essence depletion: sore back, knees, dizziness, ringing in ears, forgetfulness, insomnia

may be internally generated vacuity heat: tidal fever, vexing heat of 5- palms, malar flushm dry throat , mouth, emaciation
T: purple w/ little coat
P: fine/rapid

18
Q

ACUTE PATTERNS

A
Throat wind (Hou Feng)
Acute throat wind=sudden (anaphylactic shock)
Putrefying throat wind=ulceration of throat (HVS)
Throat locking wind=clenched jaw (epilepsy)
Throat entwining wind= rigid neck
19
Q

PREGNANCY

A

SOB, fatigue, diaphram cant move down

if cant breath, check for blood deficiency
