diaphram also related to wood. GB sits on LV. GB= side body channel. sighing= moving LV Qi (located under diaphram) = LU (metal) controlling wood (LV)

Chest Pain Etiology
- Excess obstructing
fire/heat
cold evil
static blood
phlegm - Something not moving (yang def)
- Acute/Chronic manifestations
LU chest pain = coughing/panting/phlegm
HT Chest pain= chronic chest pain= dvlps over time
Stable angina= extreme exertion; follow up in few days
Unstable angina= minimal exertion; transport to ER
Unstable patient= 911
LV chest pain= changes in emotion
- Pulmonary Embolus
- Pneumothorax
- Palpitations
- OTHER

Anxiety
Ribs dislocated/broken/bruised

Cold Evil Settling in LUs
Chest pain that is severe in the cold w/ a cough
must + signs of interior cold: coughing white phlegm, pale complexion, cool limbs, lack of thirst, clear and long urination
T: white tongue fur
P: slow
Occurs in Autumn and Winter d/t externally contracted w-c
Chest Bind Pattern
chest pain below HT
d/n like pressure
in severe cases= hard fullness and pain from below HT to abdomen
Stiffness in neck (soft like tetany)
dry tongue, thirst
or
constipation, tidal fever
Consumptive Pattern
LU Yin Xu
Pulminary TB
dull chest pain (vacuity)
+Yin def heat signs: cough w/ scanty phlegm, dry, bloody phlegm, malar flush, tidal fever, streaming bone, night sweats, 5-palm,
T: scanty coat
P: rapid
Might imply blood stasis as well, therefore purple Tongue
Blood Stasis in UJ
(angina, myocardial infarction)
Fixed, stabbing/piercing pain
panting cough, spitting of blood, dark facial complexion, nails and skin, dark purple lips and tongue maybe macules on tongue
T: purple
P: fine, rough (choppy)
Heart Vessel Obstruction
(heart attack)
Muscle of HT undernourished
crushing pain, piercing pain
radiating pattern to neck, arm, shoulder
pain in epigastrum
+ HT palps
T: dark, maybe macules
P: fine and rough/choppy, or bound w/ interrupted pace
Coronary Artery Disease CAD
feels like fullness or heartburn
leading cause of death in US; devlps over time
in women= malaise, anxiety, fatigue, insomnia, “feeling of impending doom”
demographic: older/obese
Risk Factors for CAD
advancing age/males
tobacco smoking
sedentary lifestyle
high stress
trans-fats
Diabetes, hypertension, obesity
family history of CAD or Lipid disorder
various lab values
Binding depression of LV Qi Pattern
Chest pain + rib-side pain
distending pain tho may be moving/piercing pain
pain fluctuates w/ emotion
easily angered or depressed
chest oppressiom, sighinkg
P: string-like
LIver Fire Invading the LU
Distending/burning pain
+rib sidepain, cough w/ blood phlegm or coughing of blood
signs of LV fire rising and scorching: dizziness, red eyes, easily angered , constipation, reddish urine
