Anti- secretory
Syringe drivers: respiratory secretions & bowel colic may be treated by
- hyoscine hydrobromide
- hyoscine butylbromide
- glycopyrronium bromide
what may be useful in reducing the discomfort associated with a painful mouth that may occur at the end of life
Benzydamine hydrochloride mouthwash or spray
may get this in head and neck cancer + radiotherapy
MOA of Hyoscine hydrobromide or hyoscine butylbromide
Anti-muscarinic
Reduces the volume of bronchial secretions
May also use glycopyrrinum
When coverting from oral morphine to s/c make sure to ADD breakthrough dose and modified release
Confusion/ agitation
if NOT terminally ill (bed bound)
1st line-
Other options - (2)
If they are bed bound/ term ill-
NOT- Haloperidol
Other options - chlorpromazine, levomepromazine
IS- s/c midazolam
