A

Salicylic Acid

A

Analgesic, Antipyretic, and Antinflammatory. Originally expensive but was synthezised and became cheaper (coal tar). It also caused stomach pain.

A.S.A. (Aspirin)

A

Made from salicylic acid. Treats pain, fever, inflammation, and reduced heart attack risk. Causes tinnitus, stomach irritation, and interferes with blood clotting. Also is correlated with Reye syndrome in children. Works by blocking the cyclooxygenase enzyme (inhibitor) to slow the reaction.
